INFO

Color Of Change is one of the largest racial justice organizations in the United States, supporting large-scale advocacy, education, and civic engagement initiatives. As the organization’s first dedicated product designer, I partnered across technology, communications, and campaign teams to shape the UX research, strategy, and design of their flagship website.

PROBLEM

The work required close collaboration across technology, communications, campaign, and leadership teams. I facilitated alignment around product priorities, translated complex organizational needs into scalable experience decisions, and partnered closely with engineers to rapidly iterate on implementation approaches. I led the full website redesign, including site maps, content strategy, leadership reviews, design system, responsiveness, etc. I partnered with a brand designer to translate a new brand to these assets, providing feedback and reviews along the way. My research included audience surveys and interviews, stakeholder alignment, and behavioral analysis across 200K+ users.

SOLUTION

The new website went live for the organization's 20th anniversary, increasing efficiency for donations and signing petitions through more intentional user pathways and defining the product vision and digital strategy. Part of this work included auditing and consolidating 60+ microsites, which reduced costs by 39% year-over-year. The work also helped formalize product design practices within the organization and strengthened collaboration across teams responsible for digital experiences.
